Barnes Family | Copperas Cove Family Photographer

A few miles outside of Copperas Cove is a tiny little "town" called Topsey, Texas.  Most people know where I'm referring to when I say, "You know, where the exotic ranch is!"  Then I hear stories about the crazy monkey and intrusive ostiches that like to come into cars for food!  If you drive past all the exotic animals, you'll find our family farm.  We, all like 25 of us, all meet out there every Sunday for lunch and play.  This is the Barnes family, comprised of my cousin, her husband, and their two boys.  Yes, I take alot of pictures of my family.  They have supported me from the beginning and I love to do it for them!  They know I have crazy ideas all the time and have never discouraged me and I love them all for that.  Kristy let me do Mason's 2 year-old pictures last year (our kiddos are only week apart) and I am so lucky to get to do them again.  If you check out our Facebook page, you can see a progression picture form the session last year!

Happy Grandparents Day! | Killeen Family Photographer

Grandparents are special people!  I was and still am lucky enough to know all of mine very well and see them often growing up.  Many many good times.  I can't tell you how much I would love to have had the session below for myself and my cousins to have forever.  I'm jealous.  Sometimes, pictures are more than visual images.  They store memories of not only the hour the session took place, but they spark so many other memories when looking through them.  I can look at one picture of my Mammaw sitting at her spot during Christmas and remember how we all laughed when she opened presents she had no idea what they were or called a new sweater "kinda wild lookin'."  Ah, I could go on and on but I'll get super sappy so I'll stop.  Onto the session...

Meet Tina & Mike!  They have 3 beautiful grandchildren and when they all got together Easter weekend, we did a mini session.  It was obviously not lately since the grass is still that no-so-common color anymore, green.    Remember green?  Sigh.  The kids had a blast and I know Mike and Tina did as well.  Grandparents are fun!  The kids were relaxed and they loved a good tickle & kissy attack!  I think the happiness and love shows for itself.

So, in honor of a belated Grandparents day, I encourage you to do a session like this.  It doesn't have to be formal with a photographer and you don't have to use us!  Just put it on your to-do list.  It's definitely on mine.  Your kids will thank you.  They also make great Christmas presents and we can make up some really cute gift certificates!

Paige | Lampasas Family Photographer

Paige turned 10 this past August, so one Sunday we just had to do a couple birthday shots!  Paige happens to be one of my oldest little cousins that I am lucky enough to see on a fairly regular basis.  My family has a farm in Topsey, Tx where we all meet every Sunday for lunch and fellowship.  Paige lives just up the road in Kempner and is a big 5th grader this year!

We started our session at one of the ponds.  It's really the only place out there right now with anything green around thanks to this ridiculous drought we have going.  Next, we traveled down to the feeding area where I wanted to get the cactus in the images since they have purple buds right now.  We had some large four legged friends following us around hoping we'd drop some feed for them!

Next, we went up to the goat barn and it actually started to rain!  I don't know if 5 minutes of sprinkles qualifies, but we'll take it.  We finished up at the hay barn and then I made Paige jump the fence (it got quite dramatic) to get the hills in the background shots.

I love her session.  Having her write 10 things she loves about being 10 is by far one of my favorite shots.  She's a doll big girl and I love her!  Thanks Paige for being so great!
