Easton | Killeen Newborn Photographer

I didn't get newborn pictures done of Avery or Mallory when they were born other than on my point and shoot camera and my iPhone. That was before Norman Photography began.  Before I even knew about newborn photography.  I wish I had sweet baby pictures of them like Megian will have of Easton.  You look and remember how wrinkly their little fingers and toes were, how peaceful they were when they slept, how soft their bald little heads were and just sigh.  Almost makes me want another one.  Almost.  Eh, I'll just cuddle a client's every once in a while!

Easton's momma and I go way back to my days of working my way through college at Killeen Parks & Recreation.  I use to be the Day Camp Coordinator (my self-given title).  It was a big help in preparing me for teaching though and I made many new friends and learned about the on goings of how a city services it's citizens.  Megian was my boss for a time and there was never a dull moment.  She's one of a kind and anyone who knows her will vouch that that's what makes her special and why so many people love her.  And this little guy will be loved by many too!  He's a sweet, sweet baby boy and I can't wait to see him grow and give his momma all kinds of trouble!

Riley | Killeen Children's Photographer

I'm not gonna lie.  I related to some pretty cute kids.  You'll see them alot on here throughout the year because what good is a photography career if I can't use it on my favorite people?  This is Riley.  He is 2!  I'm lucky enough to get to see most of my family every Sunday, so a few weeks ago we went on a little trip around the farm to get his birthday pictures done.  You'll notice we aren't at you're typical site given the goats in the background.  We love it though and I was even able to grab a picture of Riley's new puppy, Dixie Belle.  I've got to do a dog only session soon...

Anyway, this session takes place at our family farm in Topsey, Tx.  It's mighty dry right now and the cows are dwindling down after every auction thanks to no rain causing downsizing.  We took shots at the last couple round bales we have left, went to see the steers being fed up, said hello to the goats, and then played in the oak trees.  It's always great fun and I just love this little guy.  And did I mention his mom is sweet enough to watch my crazy kiddos for me so I can do sessions?  Love my family!  Take a look through a little of Riley's session...

Barclay Family | Ft. Hood Family Photographer

Meet the Barclays!  When I received a call from Lydia about family pictures I was a little surprised because we did family pictures for them in January.  Then, I soon learned she discovered she was pregnant with baby boy #2 right after they had them done.  So, here they are again!  Sarah did their session last time, but I was lucky enough to meet the sweet family this time.  Their blonde hair, blue eyed  handsome boy was so happy to show off his baby brother.  And why not?  He is such a sweet, darling little baby!    I'm so glad I was able to do photos for them, for William is home on R&R long enough to meet his new addition before heading back overseas.  Gotta love military life huh?  Lydia is a fabulous mom though, so I know she'll be just fine!

For the Barclays session, we headed to Salado.  Salado is a popular place for pictures, but I tell clients all the time that with each family we get a totally different look each time.  I brought along my mom's old saddle for a little pop next to the red barn I knew I wanted to use and it turned out perfect!  We did half our session at the barn and then traveled up the road to a historical monument with some rustic cabins.  I love the cabins, I've even used them for my own kiddos.  The session turned out lovely and I know I've said it before, but we really to get to meet the nicest families through this business with the cutest kids!  Take a look through a little highlight of their session...

Sasha & Anastasia | Killeen Children's Photographer

This is the second time you've all seen these sweet girls in their custom made clothing by Valeriya (their sweet mommy) but this time was more special.  We did tons of shots to showcase Valeriya's clothing line for her custom clothing line but we did a little extra mini session this time.  Why?  Sasha turned 3!  Balloons?  Of course!  She's a sweetheart and I love getting to see these girls.  Usually, I don't get to see clients again for a long time, if ever in a military town, so getting to build a relationship with clients is very nice.

For this session, we went to UMHB.  Their grass is green and they're keep their beautiful campus colorful so it is quite the popular spot for photographers right now.  It's a great spot for kids as they always love to see the lily pads and play on the oak trees at the pond.  There are rock walls, brick walls, a pavillion, and more.  It's very nice!

Guest Blogger S.M.A.R.T Zone Tutoring | Hosted by Norman Photography - Harker Heights Family Photographer

A month in to the school year, many of you may be noticing the initial excitement and anticipation of “back-to-school” beginning to wear off.  With each new assignment, deadline, and test, many students start to experience increasing levels of stress, frustration, and anxiety, especially if they are not performing at the “desired” level.  Whether you are the parent with a frustrated child who refuses to let you work with him or are a student who just isn’t grasping that new math concept, we, at S.M.A.R.T. Zone Tutoring, offer the help you need.

Who we are & how we started:
S.M.A.R.T. Zone Tutoring was started by Educational Outfitters and is a local, family owned and operated company.  Educational Outfitters, owned by Cindy and Randy Schoel, provides educational materials to parents, teachers, homeschoolers, students, and schools in the community.  For years, Educational Outfitters has served as a “match making service” between tutors and students and earlier this year decided to formally provide this service and opened S.M.A.R.T. Zone Tutoring.  S.M.A.R.T. Zone Tutoring is operated by Stephanie (Schoel) Kelso, a former Killeen ISD student and teacher.

How we are unique:
*We offer S.M.A.R.T. :  Science Math And Reading Tutoring for grades K-12.  Yes, this includes first grade reading/writing & high school chemistry!
*All of our tutors are state certified teachers with classroom teaching experience.  Our teachers know the objectives the students are responsible for, the struggles the students face, as well as how to implement countless teaching strategies for struggling students.
*We tutor in a safe, neutral location. We believe it is important to conduct our tutoring at our center, creating a neutral location away from the distractions of home and frustrations of school.
*We offer personalized private (one-on-one) and small group (2-4 students) tutoring.  After conducting the initial consultation/assessment, the tutor creates a personalized plan of instruction based on the student’s strengths, weaknesses, and learning style(s).  The tutor remains with the student for the course of his/her tutoring.
*No long-term contracts. We want to work so we are not needed…. whether that happens in 10 or 50 sessions, we don’t require you to sign up for a minimum number of sessions.

Benefits to tutoring:
It is common for all students to need additional assistance in one way or another throughout their education.  Supplemental instruction and tutoring offers many benefits to students both in and out of the classroom.
Tutoring often can provide the following benefits to students:
·       enhance academic performance
·       increase confidence and self-esteem
·       promote a positive view of subject, school, and education
·       improve study skills and strategies
·       allow students to ask questions and seek clarity
·       supplement and reinforce classroom instruction
·       lower dropout rates
